Our Project is exhibiting a work called “Compost House” at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa’s special exhibition titled “Dancing with Everything: Ecology of Empathy”.
This work is a collaboration between artist Yasura Takeshi and our Project. It uses Chikyuken compost (dry compost type) to decompose food waste and other organic waste, and heat is generated during this decomposition process. This heat is stored in the greenhouse which allows the bananas to grow over Kanazawa’s long and cold winter.
Can bananas survive the winter cold in Kanazawa? With the cooperation of a hotel near the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, food scraps are provided and mixed into the compost.
